The High Priestess is the leader of the Seraphine. She is both their ruler and their voice of the Goddess Kinah, guiding faith, law, and society as one. Her authority comes from a direct line back to Prophet Sophia, the first chosen of the Chalice, and the title is passed from mother to daughter when age or divine signs show it is time.

The High Priestess does not govern alone. She is supported by her chosen Coterie of five trusted advisors, as well as by the Blades, Wardens, and the vast Milice beneath them. From her throne in the floating capital of Del LaPhia, she decides how Seraphine Canon is interpreted, directs diplomacy with foreign powers, and oversees the spread of the faith.

Her position makes her both a spiritual figure and a political sovereign. To the faithful, her word carries the same weight as the Goddess herself, and to oppose her is seen as the greatest sin.

At the present time, High Priestess Eleanor has ruled for almost a century. At 124 years old, her reign has been long and stable, marked by expansion and technological growth. She now prepares to hand down her role to her youngest daughter, Candide, who at only sixteen is set to become the youngest High Priestess since Sophia. Though some doubt her readiness, the Seraphine believe that if she is chosen, it must be by the Goddess' will.

The High Priestess stands as the pillar of Seraphine society, respected, obeyed, and revered as the living connection between the people and the Goddess.
