AUDITION OVERVIEW // PROCESS AND PHASES

Overview

While our first ever auditions are ongoing, we would like to show you what we do during these auditions so that you can know what goes on during these important times for our team.

Disclaimer: This article will only reveal generic information, specific information regarding our processes like audition criterion will not be specified. Our audition processes may also be different from regular auditions held by other companies.

Phase 1: Initial Screening

This screening is divided into a few parts; The audition video, audition form and VOD/video review.

We first review audition videos with members of our staff. We ensure the audition video is unique and that the applicant displays their skills and creativity well in that video. We would then read the written form to see if there is any supplementary information that may improve an applicant’s overall audition review or to just ensure that they are able to perform VTubing activities. The last thing we check is public vod and video review, where we observe talents in their natural state while streaming. Regardless of whether an applicant is successful or not, an email reply is to be sent at the very earliest 3 weeks after the submission. This length is to give us enough time to judge and compare between applicants sent around the same time frame. 

Phase 2: Email Interview

In this phase, successful phase 1 applicants are sent a personalized email based on their application with the main purpose of gaining detailed information on an applicant’s special skills, talents or maybe a clarification for certain aspects of the interview which has a large amount of potential to be worked on. A detailed question on an applicant’s expectations of us may also be asked. These email interviews may persist for multiple emails. There is no definite end for this phase. Phase 3: Voice Interview

In this phase, successful phase 2 applicants are to be invited into a voice call with the CEO and Talent manager of Variance Project. There, they are introduced formally into our universe as well as what role they could play in our company. They would also be introduced into the worldbuilding works happening behind the scenes. We may also conduct final questions with the applicant in this phase. Successful phase 3 applicants would be sent a message within 2 weeks of the audition period ending.

Upon conclusion of these 3 phases, we would have our talents selected and all emails should be delivered to applicants.

All information gathered in the google forms is to be removed upon the conclusion of these 3 phases.
